Book: Your best year ever

Every single one of us wants to achieve more. And every single one of us complains about not enough time to do things. I’m sure you can relate, so my task for December 2020 (the worst year ever) is to have 2021 the best year ever (ok, I won’t quit my day job to be a comedian). But jokes aside, this is what I’m looking for. To prepare the next year to be a more productive year, even if we continue with the limitations due to the pandemic.

Idea

I’ve been following Michael Hyatt for a while, and I enjoyed many of his books, which took me to buy “Your best year even.” This book contains practical tips and advice on organizing your aspirations, goals, and dreams into something actionable to achieve them (or some of them).

Book premise

As stated by the author:

We all want to live a life that matters. We all want to reach our full potential. But too often we find ourselves overwhelmed by the day-to-day. Our big goals get pushed to the back burner—and then, more often than not, they get forgotten.

YEAR OVER YEAR PASSES BY, AND WE STILL HAVEN’T ACCOMPLISHED WHAT WE KNOW WE’RE CAPABLE OF.

Until Now…

In Your Best Year Ever, New York Times bestselling author, two-time CEO, entrepreneur, and family man Michael Hyatt shares a powerful, proven, research-driven system for setting and achieving your goals.

Why did I like it?

I have a ton of objectives, goals, and stuff I want to do, but I never organized them in a way that I could achieve them. I started one and moved to the next “shiny” one. While reading the book, although I already knew I had to do some things, I was forced to stop and really focus on what I really want to do. Let’s see if it works, but at least the book is quite interesting.

Also, I like practical books that provide actions to take and a framework that you can learn and adapt to your needs. You don’t need to be radical about it, but you can give it a try and adjust where it’s not working for you. I’m not a believer that a “perfect” framework exists, but a combination of multiple can be enough motivation to lead you to achieve more in life.
