Book: The Best Laid Plans of Mice

I’ve featured small stories before in my podcast suggestions but never here. I love short stories, and “The Best Laid Plans of Mice” is one of the best short story books I’ve read in a while. They bring a world to life and put us into it quickly, and then disappear as soon as they arrived. That’s the beauty and the issue of small stories. When they are too good, you’re sad that they finished quickly.

Book premise

This book is a beautiful set of small and quite odd stories that grab you until the end. Most of them start innocently enough, but they have some twists and turns that keep you intrigued up until the end. Don’t worry if you’re sad that there’s not more to read, but they read like pieces of candy. If you like strange short stories involving Zombies, Snow White, Love, Drama, and all in between, this is a must-book to read. You won’t be disappointed because it’s always fun to read bitesize stories. The Best Laid Plans of Mice combines all of this beautifully, and I’m sure you’ll think “just one more story” when you’re reading it.

Why did I like it?

The Best Laid Plans of Mice combines my favorite 2 things. Short stories and fiction. Especially when the fiction is what is called “what if?” Scott Baron delivers an anthology of stories from 6 other books and doesn’t disappoint. The stories are so good that I would gladly buy a book for each of them.
