Podcast: Design Matters

Design Matters is one of the first big good interview podcasts that I came across, and I’ve steadily listened to it over the years. Some in and out periods (I’m in an out period now) due to the huge number of podcasts that exist now, but I go back to some episodes once in a while.

Podcast premise

Debbie Millman hosts the show, and she’s a famous designer, writer, educator, and artist, to name a few. An extremely talented person and has, in my opinion, a gift for interviewing people. The interviews are amazing even if you’re like me and know zero about design because both she and the interviewee talk about difficult topics in a way that is understandable and enjoyable. There are many episodes in the back catalog to search for many unique peoples and interviews. You will not be disappointed with any of them.

Why do I like listening to it?

Design Matters presents ideas, concepts, and examples of daily “things” that designers thought out by designers that we even overlooked. It’s wonderful to understand how they think and how that can be applied in my life. If you’re one of those, who think that “design” is to “make things pretty,” think again. Good design is everywhere, and the best examples are often hidden.
