Podcast: The Happiness Lab with Dr. Laurie Santos

Mental health is the area where I see most people suffering and ignoring it. Nowadays it is “fashionable” to say that people sleep one 4 hours and are exhausted from working on their businesses. Burnout is not fun, and it’s something that will be with you for the rest of your life. Your happiness should not be ignored or exchanged for success. In fact, you should strive for both, not only one. Also, with the current pandemic, mental strength is more important than ever. Even after we’re free of the pandemic, we’ll have a mental health crisis on our hands.

Podcast premise

Dr. Laurie Santos brings us the concept of “how to lead a happier life.” It should be the focus of many people, but it’s not. People sabotage their health and especially their mental health for short-term gain. In this podcast, you’ll hear experts talking about what people can do to be as healthy as possible. Mental health is a broad topic, and each of us should be as informed as possible. Just because you don’t have a mental disease doesn’t mean that you should not take measures to be as healthy as you can.

Why do I like listening to it?

Mental health is a topic near and dear to my heart. I work as a knowledge worker, so my mind is my “tool” to make money. I need to keep it sharp and as strong as possible. So having good habits, nurturing them, and having plenty of rest is essential to be a good professional. Also, I think this topic is grossly stigmatized in our society. People consider having a mental disease of being “weak.” And that they can cure a mental disease “if they want.” It’s easy to talk when you’re on the outside, but (god forbid) if you have some mental disease, you know it’s not that simple.

Please spend some time and listen to it. It’s good to know how to control your body to make the most out of it while preserving your health.
