Tools: Things 3

Everyone needs a to-do list, and “Things 3” is the gold standard when it comes to that on the Mac, iOS, and iPad. Cultured Code is still one of the few companies with the “pay upfront” model, and the app is yours to enjoy. The apps are expensive, but if you buy them, you won’t regret spending the money. I can argue that it’s cheaper to buy them then to pay a subscription to some other inferior apps, based on the time I’ve used all of them. Besides, the apps are regularly updated, and you benefit from all those updates for free. With iOS 14, they were ready day 1 with widgets as an example of how fast these guys are.

The problem it solves

Work and personal projects, objectives, reminders, shopping lists, and much more are present in our lives, and our brain is not the place to stop it. That’s where Things 3 shines. It allows you to have several levels of the organization where you can put all your “life” organized in one place. It follows the GTD methodology with the “Inbox” and the “Someday,” but you can customize it to do whatever you desire.

Why I use it?

I like the design and the flexibility it gives me. I also like that it’s incredible on the iPhone and Mac, so the experience is always right. If I’m on the go, I don’t feel stuck with a “simple” or “inferior” app so that I can use it without any significant loss in productivity. The app has a fantastic design, and has the sync between devices is flawless in my years of using it. It has all the features you can expect in a clear and clean UI, with nice touches that can help you keep organized.

Where you can find it
