The site is 7 years today

I like the number 7 a lot. I'm not a gambler so it's not that, but it is a cool achievement to reach 7 years with the site still going.

As you've seen the site has changed a lot over the last few months and that's a good thing, at least to me. Getting rid of Wordpress allowed me to push a lot more cool stuff and especially design the site as I like it. There are parts that still need work but at least now I can change them and don't have to ask the theme provider to fix them or find the 100th plugin that will fix an issue that another plugin introduced (not exaggerating).

It's also been a good experience hosting the site myself. I've learned a lot and keep on learning on a daily basis.

So what's changed?

Newsletter is now live

I sent the first issue yesterday. If you missed it, not a problem, you can read it in the dedicated page that will contain all issues. If you don't like emails you can add it to your RSS feed. Same content in both places.

This will be monthly because I want to respect your time and I will try to make it worth your while. It will contain things that I found interesting and things that you should know. Again, you can read the first one already and see if you like it, but give me a chance since this is something new to me. You can always unsubscribe.

For those of you who are interested about this, I'm using Lettermint that gives me some assurance of privacy and with the plus of being a European company.

New reference areas

I launched a few new areas like N8N and N8N Trigger reference (the action will follow quite soon as well) as well as the Excel Function Reference. Same concept as all the other references. I grab all that I can find about a specific trigger or function and give you an overview, sometimes with too much text, but at least complete so that you can come back and have all information in one spot.

I don't have plans now to release a new area, but I do these types of posts every 6 months, so it's possible that until then I find another cool area to focus on and start writing about it.

I've been developing more

I've also started slowly developing in Swift and building some tools so I'm starting to write about issues that I find in Xcode and how I solved them. Low priority area but just for you to understand why it exists.

Also Python has been a great area of learning for me. I haven't published a lot but if I find something that I think people should know or a fix to a difficulty that I had I'll post about it.

I don't like promoting stuff, but I'm finalizing some cool projects so if you want to know about them check the right side for the newsletter or socials since I'll post stuff there right away.

Some areas are back from the dead

I had a lot of dead areas of the site that I completely forgot like the "recommendations" for example. I will try to keep them updated but at least now they look a bit nicer.

The same with older less read areas like the "SharePoint Function Reference" or "Power Apps Function Reference". Even if they are not high traffic areas I want to keep them updated, not as frequent as the "Power Automate Function" for example but at least frequent enough that things are not abandoned.

Some articles were getting old and needed updating

I've been updating many of the old articles. I found articles that people still to this day use as a reference that were 6 years old and needed a bit of refresh. You will see the information on the right side of the article.

I will try as much as possible but if you want something updated there's also a privacy-preserving vote button. Single click tells me either to update the article or write more about that so if you want to make your voice heard but don't have time to write me an email then this is your best bet.
